Letter to the Editor
Conservatives' 'whining' shows lack of courage

You chose to come to Penn State, chose your classes and your major. Those events were your own decisions. However, in our classes we are confronted by fliers whining about the injustices inflicted upon the poor, unfortunate conservatives ("Event fliers raise concerns," Nov. 14). Those classes they chose are being taught by professors they chose and these unfortunates feel they do not have the strength to maintain their values when confronted by an opposing view from a professor. Does anyone else find these fliers juvenile, and say nothing about the convictions of the group? Does anyone know what exactly this group is trying to say in a mature fashion intended for their collegiate peers? Me neither. Instead, they play games. They are picking a fight with Allies by calling their celebration of conservatism (which they can have, as Americans with liberties of free speech and assembly) a "coming out day."

After these propaganda attempts around campus, I too would be in the closet about being conservative. People who are picking a fight do not appeal to my political convictions. Before you join any group, learn what they stand for. If you agree, join. If not, walk away you'll be a better person for it.
