Conservatives at PSU not free voice views

"Penn State is a welcoming climate for conservatives." This is a quote from Manish Vaidya ("Event flier raise concerns," Nov. 14). This is quite possibly the most insidious statement I have ever heard anyone say. Penn State is anything but a welcoming environment for conservatives. In my four years, I had to bite my tongue on a number of occasions, only because some of my views weren't socially acceptable by my peers. There is a large, boisterous liberal student voice, and the conservative students of Penn State need to express their opinion.

More often than naught, conservative ideals are not given equal time in a number of classes and discussions, primarily because it's not a "politically correct" viewpoint.

I wish the College Republicans luck in their efforts. I hope your rally does bring to a head the need for a more tolerant student body, for all political thoughts, including conservative ones.
