Letter to the Editor
Assumptions of liberals ignore their real efforts

I am not ashamed to call myself a liberal. I am also not ashamed to call myself a Christian. Or even Caucasian for that matter! Andrew Criado's generalizations have me outraged ("Office of Multicultural Affairs selectively chooses which types of diversity it endorses," Nov. 13). Not all liberals are "pot-smoking, baby-killing, anti-Christians." We are also concerned with issues outside of race (though we do feel racial equality is vital). You seem to have forgotten movements by "liberals" to protect our environment, promote non-violent ways of international negotiations, promote fair education, safe sex and tolerance. You criticize us for limiting your free speech, but were it not for liberals, would you have the right to free speech? I too am a Christian, but I feel that my God has called me to love other people, and to spread a gospel of tolerance and acceptance, a gospel I do not find compatible with conservative viewpoints.
