Pedestrian treated for injuries after hit by car

A pedestrian was injured when a car struck her in the left leg and knocked her backward at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mount Nittany Medical Center, formerly known as Centre Community Hospital, treated and released a woman for injuries she sustained in the incident.

The State College Police Department said Liya Wang, 26, was walking across East College Avenue when Michael Henry, 23, drove his vehicle into her while turning left from Allen Street onto College Avenue.

Henry told police officers that he did not see the pedestrian until just prior to the impact. A witness that was driving behind Henry also said that she could not see the pedestrian until he hit her.

Henry was cited for failing to change lanes safely, police said.
