Penn State Police Services said yesterday a recent fire in Sproul Hall has been ruled arson.
ABC's WATM-TV (23) News confirmed the ruling through a Centre Daily Times reporter last night, and police are currently seeking a suspect in the case.
Flames broke out at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in a 10th-floor restroom of the East Halls building.
Police said someone started the fire by burning papers in a can in the restroom.
At least one student was treated for smoke inhalation by Penn State police, but no one was seriously injured.
Members of the Alpha Fire Company extinguished the flames.
Although the fire did several thousand dollars' worth of damage and caused residual damage on the floor, Officer Dirk Clouse of Penn State police said the flames caused no structural damage to the building.
