Readers respond to Napster agreement

I hope that the undergraduate students of Penn State know that President Graham Spanier has brokered a deal with Napster providing free music downloads for the Penn State community ("Napster sharing coming to campus," Nov. 7) at the cost of improving your education. In what can be called one of the largest misappropriations of funds, the fee for this service comes directly out of your activity fees, approximately $160 per semester. Instead of improving computer labs and recreational facilities, Spanier has decided that having the latest music album is beneficial for your education. Don't let the administration tell you that you have no control of how your tuition and activities are spent. Let the university know that your activity money is best spent improving your education instead of providing a distraction from it.
