Letter to the Editor
Liberals' intolerance shows their hypocrisy

Maybe Andrew Criado generalized in his column ("Liberals only believe in free speech when it serves their own purpose," Oct. 30). Not all liberals are morons, anti-free speech, intolerant, communist-hippies. Some liberals are actually good people, although naïve to believe things like a person's skin color makes them think differently (an affirmative action and diversity argument).

But the remaining liberals are downright questionable in their motives. The Collegian prints letters that call conservatives racists, bigots and homophobes, just for asking others to tolerate conservative opinions, but does not print conservative letters calling liberals such names.

How can you ask for toleration when you don't give it? Liberals have stereotyped conservatives as greedy, capitalistic exploiters and oppressors. That's how these liberals justify their intolerance. They may get mad about linking abortion to genocide, but they have no problem suggesting that conservatives are Nazis.

So when conservative students start questioning your "tolerance" and "diversity" after you call them names for disagreeing, don't get mad. So next time Criado stereotypes or generalizes liberal behavior, stop and think how you have stereotyped and generalized him. Maybe the angry "oppressed" liberals among you will actually be able to practice real tolerance rather than just preach it.
