Early-season results say Penn State's Lady Icers might have an easy time handling the University at Buffalo this weekend.
In contrast to the Lady Icers' 3-0-1 start, the Freeze is 0-7, losing its games by an average of eight goals per contest. It has been shut out three times already.
Yet Lady Icers coach Chris Whittemore isn't willing to discount Buffalo.
"We're hoping to win at least one game out of this [trip] but I can't honestly say I know what they have," Whittemore said.
The Lady Icers swept all four meetings with Buffalo last year, winning each game by at least two goals.
Buffalo's highest offensive output was the four goals it notched in a 6-4 loss at Boston University on Oct. 17.
Whittemore said his team has progressed greatly since the beginning of the season but work still needs to be done.
"We still have a ways to go," he said. "I don't know what to expect [this weekend] but I feel good going in that the girls will play hard."
Forward Kate Connolly and Katie King lead the Lady Icers with five goals each entering the weekend.
