Political cartoon choice falsely depicts situation

I was very disappointed when I saw the political cartoon that the Collegian selected for yesterday's newspaper, depicting the crisis in Florida involving a young woman named Terri Schiavo and her family. The cartoon depicted her hooked up to various machines, her face covered by a mask, while a group celebrates her continued "life." Schiavo is hooked up to no machines but a feeding tube. She is not on a respirator or any life supporting device. Schiavo is alive and aware of her surroundings. She responds to those around her. She has suffered severe brain damage, but that makes her no less a person than you or I.

Her parents have been fighting to save her, but have been thwarted by a biased court that has not even allowed pictures or videos taken of Schiavo to be seen in court.

I am appalled that such a ridiculously uninformed and biased cartoon would be drawn, let alone reprinted.
