The State College Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of Salvador Peter Serrano, but has not released further details about the incident.

The cause of Serrano's death remains unknown, and family members have not yet decided if they will file a civil lawsuit against the All American Rathskeller, 108 S. Pugh St.

"Right now we are cooperating fully with the authorities and their investigation," said Louis A. Bove, the attorney representing Grace Jimenez, Serrano's mother, and Brooke Morgan, his fiancée. "We will make the determination if anything is pursued at a later date."

Serrano, who went by Peter, was born May 27, 1982, in Manila, Philippines. His father was Lito Serrano.

Peter Serrano graduated from Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, where he was captain of the volleyball team and a member of the swimming and tennis clubs.

Serrano was a junior majoring in advertising and public relations at the time of his death.

A memorial service will be dedicated to him at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the worship hall of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday at Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory in Hershey.

He worshipped at the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, where a second visitation will take place from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held afterward from 4 until 6 p.m.

A memorial fund administered by M&T Bank has been established in Serrano's name, Bove said.

Serrano was pronounced dead at Centre Community Hospital one hour after police responded to a patron's cell phone call reporting a fight at 1:46 a.m. Sunday from the Rathskeller.

The confrontation took place on the 100 block of Calder Way, an alley behind the bar, between four bouncers and a group comprising Serrano, his fiancée and another couple. A fight began when the man accompanying Serrano stopped in the Rathskeller's gravel parking lot, adjacent to Calder Way, and began to urinate in public.

Rathskeller bouncers in the parking lot observed the man urinating and tried to stop the group, at which point a verbal argument became physical. Police said punching and shoving occurred among those involved.

Sgt. John Wilson said the bouncers, three of whom were restraining one person each when police arrived, did not throw punches during the fight.

Serrano was one of those restrained and was unconscious when police arrived at the alley. Police and ambulance personnel tried to resuscitate him, but Serrano never came to.
