Letter to the Editor
All conservative groups oppose big government

Steve Boneck's Friday's column ("Social conservatives' moral mandates will hinder them in presidential election," Oct. 24) makes a false dichotomy between fiscal and moral conservatives. His assertion that moral conservatives want "big government dictating your moral standards" is wrong. Historically, moral conservatives always advocated limited government. After all, the primary role of government is not to enforce morality, but to remove the obstacles to virtue.
