A national controversy sparked by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in classrooms has not yet worked its way through State College public schools.

Fallen leaves can be a sign that autumn is here, and the responsibility of clearing them off roadways and sidewalks is now in full swing.

Although Penn State received more than 86,000 applications for admission last year, the university is launching a marketing campaign to attract mainly in-state high school students to attend campuses at other than University Park.

The new $20 bill, which has circulated for little more than a week, is causing some problems with vending machines used in the Penn State community.

A sexual assault was reported at 12:53 p.m. Sunday from the 200 block of Bradley Avenue, the State College Police Department said.

Heather Conroy didn't get what she expected last week.

It was no arcade game but in Saturday night's volleyball match, Minnesota played its own version of Gopher Bash.

At one end of the ice, a hard wrist shot from defenseman Joe Maglaque bulges the twine while at the other end, goalie Chris Matteo skates out of his crease making a small circle to the right of his net.

The zebras earned their worth on Friday and Saturday when the Penn State Ice Lions faced off against Liberty.

Stephanie Smith threaded a perfect ball through the Wisconsin defense, right in front of a breaking Heidi Drummond. The senior forward sprinted toward the goal with only the keeper to beat -- a familiar sight for her this season.

Of 28 schools, the Penn State men's tennis team advanced the most players after the first round of play at the ITA Championships in Ithaca, N.Y.

ABC will show Penn State's Big Ten clash with Ohio State on Saturday, November 1 to a regional audience. Kickoff has been set for 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium, and the game is sold out.

While many take the fascinating skyline and size of New York City for granted, one Penn State researcher has dug deeper and discovered the city as nature had intended.

Far from being a mere annoyance, e-mail spam is beginning to have more serious effects. Penn State students and faculty, however, are beginning to fight back.

Walk into the health section of any pharmacy and you'll find them on the shelf -- Echinacea, ginseng, garlic and even bee pollen. These herbal treatments and medications can be an alternative to prescription drugs and traditional medicine. The only catch is that you need to do your homework.

Everyone brushes their teeth to clean them, but brushing right after drinking soda might do more harm than good. Soda's extreme acidity may soften and erode tooth enamel, and brushing right after drinking could worsen the damage.

Some people say it's to prevent their eyes from popping out of their head. But professors say there are other reasons as to why people close their eyes when they sneeze.
