It was thrilling to see that the board of editors took up the topic of our new network ("New show should be available to off-campus students," Oct. 20). It has been an intense process for us to even get as far as we have with the limited funding and support from the university. It is nice to see that our fellow media colleagues understand the importance of getting our message out into the off-campus community.
However, it is disturbing to see the Collegian editorial imply that there has been no effort to reach the off-campus population.
We have tried to expand Penn State Network Television (PSN-tv) outside of campus cable. Our officers have met and spoken with C-Net executives extensively, but with no success in branching off campus. To set the record straight, we have been striving since day one to expand our viewing audience past campus cable. With help from Penn State University, with its size and strong influence, PSN-tv can reach the large off-campus population that is currently being excluded from this new and exciting programming. We call on the university to ally with PSN-v to facilitate negotiations with off-campus cable outlets.
