The Patton Township Police Department is investigating the shooting of a Penn State student early Saturday morning on the 1800 block of North Oak Lane.
Detective Chris Federinko said the name of the victim, who was treated and released at Centre Community Hospital, is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
Police reported the student was at a large party when he got into an argument with the suspect in the carport area of the residence at 4:20 a.m. Saturday. The suspect drew a handgun and fired it twice at the victim, hitting him once in the back. Federinko declined to comment on how the argument may have begun.
Police are looking for a light-skinned black man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, in his 20s with a stocky build and light colored eyes.
The unknown suspect fled the scene after the shooting, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt. Police said the man may be from the New York City area, and his first name could be Jamal or something similar.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Patton Township police at (814) 234-0987 or 1-800-479-0050.
