Paterno not improving football at Penn State

Penn State's coaches aren't putting players in a position to do well. How is it that Florida State University and a host of other programs can reload year after year while Penn State enters yet another quagmire?

Our recruiting and academic standards are such that we should never win less than seven games a year. Time was if we lost two games a year things were tough.

What explains all of these maladies? Coaching, plain and simple. Joe Paterno always says the game has not passed him by. No, it has not passed him by; he let it get away. Paterno has always said that if you don't get better, you get worse, because those around you are always improving. He is no longer improving. We can let Paterno coach a very long time in celebration of the past, or we can move forward.
