Letter to the Editor
Putting criminals online not a realistic solution

Oh, for crying out loud. This is in response to Kevin Cerino's July 28 letter ("PSU should show pictures of criminals") about posting pictures of dangerous individuals so that students, faculty and staff could avoid them.

This is absurd.

Who would we put on this Web site, every person in the country that has been convicted of a crime? And what would you do if you were walking down the street and recognized one of them? Turn around and hightail in the opposite direction, screaming bloody murder?

Anwar Phillips allegedly messed up in public eye, something most people who break the law don't have the privilege of doing. Because he's a member of the almighty football team, we all became suddenly interested in an incident that happens every day in our county. He's not the only person at Penn State to assault a female.

Even if we had the "Deviants of State College" Web site protecting us from criminals in our area, Paul Krueger wouldn't have been on it since his conviction was in Texas.

Posting pictures of criminals in our area won't help State College become a safer place. Perhaps some of the people who broke the law, intentionally or negligently, deserve a chance to get their lives together.

Posting pictures of everyone in the world who ever committed a crime? Find something else to do with your time.
