Unidentified joyriders drive forklift, dump truck

An unknown person or persons caused damages estimated to be in the thousands when they took a dump truck and forklift on a joyride after discovering the keys in the ignition early Sunday morning, Penn State Police Services said.

The perpetrator(s) allegedly found the dump truck and forklift parked at the northwest corner of the PSU Power Plant on Burrowes Street, police said. The dump truck was intentionally crashed through a large mechanical access gate before being found parked on the north side of the University Club, 331 W. College Ave., with the engine running, police said. The forklift was found to have been driven a short distance within the compound before the perpetrator(s) left with the keys, police said.
