Please take advantage of Trash to Treasure

Each summer, thousands of students come to Penn State to take classes. While here, they get to experience a little of Penn State.

When these students depart, they leave behind their unwanted items. These items used to go to the landfill.

This summer, however, students living in the dorms have the opportunity to not only help the enviroment, but also support Centre County United Way.

The summer Trash to Treasure collection takes place in the dorms from now until the end of the semester.

Items such as clothing or fans placed in the collection bins are recycled and resold inexpensively to those in the community.

All the money raised from sales goes to support the 36 local health and human agencies that are Centre County United Way members.

In May, the Trash to Treasure sale raised over $38,000 for local non- profit agencies.

All students leaving the dorms should give back to the place they called home this summer and donate their unwanted items.

Remember that one person's trash is another person's treasure.
