President Spanier's guest column regarding the reckless actions of students at football games should have been published closer to the start of the football season.

While I understand the first home football game will occur before the start of classes and probably before the first fall issue of the Daily Collegian, publishing this column over a month before the first game makes it ineffective.

Further, the number of students enrolled in summer courses who have access to the Daily Collegian is only a small percentage of the students who will be arriving for the fall.

The students who are here currently probably will not remember President Spanier's words a month from now, either. Publishing this letter when the fall semester begins, even if it is after the first home game, would allow more students to realize the consequences of irresponsible conduct at football games.
