It's a love/hate relationship.
Every year new students move in and out of local apartments.
Usually the tenants have problems with some of the ways their landlords run the show. A recent complaint: moving out of one apartment, into another and having no place to go in between.
There are a few sides to this story.
There are the students who do not have a place to go.
There are the apartment realtors that have maintenance, cleaning, painting, et cetera to do.
This is a tangled mess of placing blame and trying to find a happy medium for everyone. There are a few simple solutions to these problems.
Possibly, students who face the problem of moving could go to their realtors and ask for some help.
It's worth a shot, and some landlords are understanding to specific situations students' faces. And, realtors should be sympathetic to their clients; these students are the ones supporting their businesses.
Last year, students complained about their landlords painting their apartments while they still were residing there.
If realtors can legally paint apartments while their patrons still reside there, then surely they could allow homeless students a place to stay while the maintenance is being done.
Then there are the students who have trouble finding a place to put their things and themselves.
If apartment renters ignore the student's needs, then the student needs to prepare better for these situations.
There are the storage companies -- few and far between as they are -- to help these students.
There will most likely never be a happy tenant/realtor relationship at PSU, but there are measures that can be taken to make it at least civil.
