NEWS

Penn State officials and police have expressed mixed views on an Ohio law designed to prevent rioting, a subject of concern for the university during the past five years.

Local libraries are feeling the effects of Gov. Ed Rendell's 50 percent aid cut to Pennsylvania's public libraries.

Besides tuition hikes, donations from textbook publishing companies are filling holes in the budget left by the decreases in state funding.

Though a growing number of consumers are choosing to buy organic food, some local farmers are opting not to go through the federal certification processes.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced last week a new labeling requirement for foods containing trans-fatty acids.

It comes as no surprise to many Penn State students that tuition will increase once again this year.

Penn State is not alone in its current tuition woes. Tuition increases will once again affect college campuses across the country as schools battle reduced state funds.

Members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (SAE) still do not know if they will have a house at the beginning of the fall semester. Carl Hess, State College Borough planning director, said a decision will not be made for at least another month.

SPORTS

In past years, if Penn State students waited until July 16 to order football season tickets, they would be out of luck and forced to watch the Nittany Lions in front of a television.

OPINIONS

Borough should be careful when deciding about SAE
