Two men raped and sexually assaulted a woman at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in an area near Fraternity Row.
The men, one of whom was armed with a knife, forced their way into the victim's car when it was stopped at a red light on Beaver Avenue at Allen Street, according to the State College Police Department. The woman had recently left a downtown nightclub and entered her car in a Fraser Street parking lot.
After the men jumped into her car, they ordered her to drive to the area near Fraternity Row, where one man sexually assaulted her while the other acted as a lookout, police said.
The suspects, who fled on foot after the attack, are both described to be between the ages of 20 and 25. One is described as white and about 5 feet 6 inches tall with brown hair, brown eyes and short sideburns. He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans. The other is described as black with a medium build and slightly taller than the white assailant.
Another violent rape took place in mid-April in a South Garner Street yard. A 19-year-old female Penn State student was raped by three unknown men between 4 and 4:40 a.m. Police described the suspects of that rape as white men between the ages of 20 and 25. One man wore a blue sweater and another wore a white T-shirt.
State College Police Sgt. John Wilson said investigations of each case are in progress, and declined to comment on either.
In a separate April incident, a 21-year-old woman was indecently assaulted in Ferguson Township. A white male suspect described as about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with a thin build allegedly dragged the woman to a playground where he tried to remove her clothes before she fought him off and fled to her apartment. Police released a composite sketch of this suspect shortly after the incident took place.
A sketch of the white suspect from Wednesday's rape has also been released. Police are looking for possible witnesses who were near the intersections of Allen Street and Beaver Avenue, and Pugh Street and Beaver Avenue, between 1 and 1:30 a.m. that morning.
Any witnesses or anyone with information on the case are asked to call the State College police at 234-7150.
