I commend the supporters of Sen. Rick Santorum's (R-Pa.) statement who uphold the obligations of the government to enforce morals in our degenerate society. Sex should only take place between a man and a woman, as sex is solely for reproductive purposes. I propose that the government demand that any couple wishing to have sex prove that they are married, that they are intending to have children, and that it is the correct time in the woman's cycle to conceive. Furthermore, the husband and wife should sign a testament stating that they will not enjoy this sexual act, as this might encourage them to have sex for pleasure.
Does this sound a bit excessive? If we are basing a government law on Christian morals, then sex solely for reproduction is a valid extreme. Now think about your own lifestyle and actions. How many of us are open to premarital sex? How many of us are open to sex for pleasure and not strictly reproduction? How many of us believe that we should be allowed to use birth control or preventative devices? Aren't these against Christian morals? We are very quick to bend "morals" to fit our lifestyle and very quick to condemn those who do not fit these warped standards. Even worse, we are allowing a politician with these "morals" to use political power to make this bias into law.
