NEWS

A Penn State student and part-time Information and Technology Services (ITS) employee was arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges of theft after stealing computer hardware from two university labs and selling it on eBay, Penn State Police Services said.

Signs on Old Main's columns read "No Big Brother" and "Stop the Cameras" at yesterday's rally for civil liberties hosted by The Streets Project.

The controversy surrounding the Office of Judicial Affairs and the way it handled the Anwar Phillips case continues to grow.

The Penn State men's basketball coaching staff is starting to resemble a Southern Conference coaching convention.

State College is largely populated by young people who have been ripped from their comfortable hometown lives and transplanted into a fast-paced academic mecca.

Affirmative action, hate crimes, prejudice and students' personal experiences with these three issues came up last night when the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) "Blacks and Jews in Conversation" made a stop at Penn State.

Leslie Clark (senior-architecture) remembers the exact moment she was embarrassed to be an American.

By the middle of May, 16 new security cameras will be watching the hallways of the Willard and Boucke buildings.

Diversity issues are slowly inching their way into the student body and the curriculum.

Alpha Phi sorority said goodbye to one of its members Sunday when Courtney Keevican died in a car accident while returning home from Penn State.

SPORTS

It's never a good thing for a coach when his team surrenders a 10-3 lead with two innings left.

They may not have passed his bill exactly as he wanted it, but Nebraska state senator Ernie Chambers got what he was hoping for for decades from the Nebraska unicameral legislature.

And then there were four.

He waited a long time for this hit.

"One hand behind my back against both of you," Dale Simmons says.

It's déjà vu all over again for the Penn State women's rugby team.

ARTS

Don't expect just one type of entertainment. Don't expect to be bored. And do not expect rabbits springing from top hats.

A college-aged fashion designer. A stuffed basset hound. World War II. These are just a few of the subjects from the widely diverse crop of films in this year's Penn State Student Film Festival, a selection of films by Penn State students that will be shown at 6:30 tonight in Schwab Auditorium.

There are certain bands that get to be a little predictable when they hit the road. They play the same songs every single night and create the same concert experience time after time.

Sparta might be billed as Pearl Jam's opening act this Saturday, but the show will be the band's closing gig after a national tour that has taken it across the country five times.

My Opinion: Caleb Sheaffer

In these last precious days of the Spring 2003 semester, many students are scrambling to complete their end-of-the-year assignments. These assignments usually consist of research papers, lab reports, or art portfolios. Eric Leslie's (senior-theater & computer science) unique honor's thesis, however, entails the Cliffs of Insanity, a six-fingered man, and Rodents of Unusual Size.

Radiohead. Sigur Rós. The Verve.

Much of the music you hear today sounds the same -- artists struggle between the pressure of playing what they know people will like and playing something original. One solo musical artist doesn't find this decision hard to make; he dwells in the pride of being an originator.

Igby Goes Down is a film that tells it like it is.

Through sexual tension, intriguing dialogue and well-defined characters, Out of Sight captivates the audiences and keeps them mesmerized.

Ocean creatures will leave the water behind and sky creatures will come down to earth as the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop (CPDW) performs their annual spring show 7 p.m. Sunday at State College Area High School South Auditorium.

Local comic book store Comic Swap Inc. will join comic book stores around the country on Saturday for "Free Comic Book Day."

My Opinion: Jason Cox
