Magazines in bookstore don't reflect university
What do the periodicals Cannabis Culture and BusinessWeek have in common? Unfortunately, nothing. That is to say, they do not sell the latter in our university-run and state-subsidized bookstore. On about a dozen occasions I have meandered into the bookstore to try to find the new copy of BusinessWeek, only to come up short time after time. A couple of times I inquired about the periodical's availability, and each time I was told that the bookstore must not have carried the magazine. However, I can buy Cannabis Culture if I choose, bringing me important newsworthy stories like "How to turn leaf into potent green butter, in 10 easy steps" and "Can thermal imaging be used to obtain a search warrant?" Does the university administration know about this? I am not arguing against the sale of Cannabis Culture; after all I do believe in freedom of speech. It is my opinion that a publication like BusinessWeek is more in line with the educational goals at an institution of "higher" learning. Pardon the pun. Jonathan Englert
