Students: As the discussion rages over the installation of surveillance cameras in downtown State College, the university is installing cameras behind our backs!
Only last week installation was completed on no fewer than 16 video cameras in the halls of Willard Building. These new cameras, and the older existing cameras around campus, invade our privacy.
We have a right to know where and when our actions (and voices) are being recorded. The university should place signs at the entrances of buildings which are monitored and alert the student body to all new instances of video surveillance.
This is our campus -- just as it is our downtown -- and we should have a say in how it is run.
