Voting is the only way to get Council to listen
Re: "Council ignored public with camera decision" April 25 letter. I applaud the writer's plans to run for State College Borough Council. Certainly, the interest of the students who are residents of State College would be better represented with one of our own sitting as a member of that council. As demonstrated at recent meetings, however, merely bringing student concerns in front of council will not sway the members' opinions. The council's current members will not be forced to keep the interests of the students in mind until more students register to vote here in the State College borough and actually vote in the elections. Voter registration applications are kept outside the Undergraduate Student Government office on the second floor of the HUB-Robeson Center. I encourage all students who will be living in the State College area long enough to vote in the next election to stop by and pick one up. Or, register in the fall when you return for classes. Students must realize that only way to truly have a voice in State College -- our home -- is to register to vote, and vote, locally. Melissa Curry
