A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday after being struck by a car at about 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Beaver Avenue and South Atherton Street, the State College Police Department said.
Sgt. John Wilson said the victim was flown by helicopter from Centre Community Hospital, but an update on the boy's condition or location was not available. He was struck by a car that was traveling northbound on Atherton Street as he crossed the intersection, Wilson said.
No charges have been filed against the driver, and an investigation is continuing, he said. The accident is the fourth involving a pedestrian on Atherton Street this academic year.
In October, a 79-year-old woman was killed when struck by a minivan, and two days before, two pedestrians were struck and injured in separate incidents.
