A man indecently assaulted a woman early Saturday morning, the Ferguson Township Police Department said.

As voices of the Penn State Glee Club echoed through the new worship hall with sunlight streaming in, the university community remembered the 29 Penn State students who died this academic year at a memorial ceremony Friday afternoon.

With a host of top donors in town over the weekend, Penn State orchestrated fanfares and a celebratory production to herald a fundraising accomplishment.

Bikers and philanthropists might not seem to go together, but the American Lung Association teamed up with the #1 Cycle Center Harley-Davidson/Buell, 107 Yearicks Blvd., Centre Hall, to raise money for charity this weekend.

SPORTS

NEW YORK -- It seems too obvious and cliché to call the first day of the NFL draft a roller coaster ride for Penn State, but it's still the best way to put it.

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno acknowledged one player who sat out Saturday's Blue-White game was held from the game partly because of his involvement in an April 13 altercation involving two members of the Penn State wrestling team.

A victim's rights group has requested that the NCAA investigate whether or not Anwar Phillips was eligible to play in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1 after his university suspension was levied in mid-December.

Fans looking for a clean, fundamentally sound Blue-White game on Saturday were instead treated to a mistake-filled scrimmage.

How good was Penn State's defensive line last season? Well, all three starters who graduated will be playing on Sundays this upcoming NFL season.

The athletes are there and the potential is seemingly endless, but no one wins championships on potential alone. In Saturday's Blue-White scrimmage, the Penn State football team's defensive backfield looked solid, but there was definite room for improvement.

Tony Johnson is the Penn State football team's go-to-guy with the departure of Bryant Johnson for the National Football League.

NEW YORK -- In a draft, which oddly enough claimed defensive tackle as its strongest position, the New York Jets preferred Kentucky's Dewayne Robertson at No. 4.

As the closing seconds ticked off the clock, Penn State might have seen its post-season chances slowly slip away.

Women's lacrosse loses on last second miss

Western Kentucky golfer Robby Shaw was unable to fit in any practice rounds before this weekend's Rutherford Intercollegiate tournament and had to use golf balls that belonged to a teammate.

On a day with very light winds and rains, not exactly ideal conditions for sailing, the Penn State sailing club capped off a rebuilding year in which it failed to qualify for the Mid Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association division championships by hosting their fifth annual Alumni Regatta this past Saturday.

The Penn State men's outdoor track and field team left Philadelphia this past weekend with several top-notch performances at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Who knew a Buckeye could golf? Well, Ohio State proved they could and obliterated the competition in the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship this past weekend. The Buckeyes beat out the nearest competitor by 29 strokes.

The Penn State softball team has split series in the Big Ten this year in a variety of ways.

The main strength of the No. 7 Penn State men's volleyball team has been its maturity when put in tough situations.

It was a classic Big Ten baseball series with one blunder.

Over the course of five days the Penn State women's track and field team was able to take on challenging opposition, the best it had seen all year, and earn some impressive marks at the Penn Relays.

The Penn State women's tennis team competed in the Big Ten Championships this past week in Champaign, Ill., at the Atkins Tennis Center. The Nittany Lions, ranked No. 9 in the Big Ten, carried an overall record of 7-13 into the Championships.

Wilco's singer/songwriter Jeff Tweedy realized his band might not be ideal to headline an outdoor festival. In between songs, he told the crowd that his band's melancholy lyrics and softer arrangements aren't real "party" music.

Forget G-G-G G-Unit. Just g-g-g give us our damn money back.

WEATHER
