Senator should resign for lying about views
As a gay man, I am absolutely devastated that there are people like the writer of "This Democrat supports senator's family values" (April 25 letter) who hate homosexuals, rather who hate anybody who is different than him so much that he would make a statement like "I do think that people who have sex outside the traditional male-female marriage should be locked up," and the same goes double for abortion doctors and their patients. It shocks me that he calls himself a Democrat, yet he carries in his mind such a fascist philosophy. If it is fair for Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) to say that homosexuality leads to incest, adultery and polygamy, then it is fair for me to say that homophobia leads to racism, bigotry and murder. Santorum is clearly prejudiced. Anyone who can be accepting of homosexuality but not homosexual acts is a bald-faced liar. I do not feel that he should resign for being a homophobe, I feel he should resign for telling such blatant lies to the people of Pennsylvania. The writer is obsessed with history and preoccupied with hanging on to tradition. You cannot create laws based on tradition. Traditions are constantly being broken as new traditions are born. Sometimes traditions are broken for a reason. Slavery was once a tradition. Should we bring that back? It is no surprise that the writer is a history major, as he is quite clearly living, as they say, in the past. Andrew J. Terranova
