Letter to the Editor
Liberal left's reaction insensitive, intolerant

Once again, a Republican senator is the victim of a witch hunt. Every time someone says something that the liberal left does not agree with, they are accused of insensitivity, racism, bigotry, intolerance, you name it. The same people who claim to be supporters of the First Amendment are always the first to call for somebody's head if they say something that they are not in agreement with.

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) did not demand that homosexuals be removed from their place of employment because they are homosexual and he does not agree with their lifestyle. On the other hand, those who are not in agreement with Santorum's stand are demanding he resign. So who is being insensitive? Who is being intolerant? Who is the bigot?

Santorum stated that he does not support acts of homosexuality but he has nothing against a person who is homosexual. Some say that statement makes no sense. It makes as much sense as saying you support the troops in Iraq but not the war.

Santorum is known for his family values throughout the United States. It is also common knowledge that he is a major proponent of the partial-birth abortion ban. He is a devout Christian, devoted husband and father. Becoming an elected official did not require that he give up his family values or his religious beliefs. It did not require him to give up any constitutional rights. He is an American.

He has the right to disagree with homosexual acts in the same manner that homosexuals have the right to think it is appropriate. If you can't accept that, then you are the one who is intolerant, bigoted and biased, and you do not represent America. You even have the right to disagree with me. And I'm sure you'll exercise that right.
