Santorum a homophobe if he's against gay acts
I would like to express my dismay at certain comments made by Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) over the past few days and secondly offer some clarification to the writer of the letter "Santorum's comments were not controversial" (April 24). Sen. Santorum's comparison of homosexuality with polygamy, incest and adultery is, quite frankly, insulting and ludicrous. With reference to the letter, I believe there really is no debate that such associations are "controversial." Sen. Santorum's comments in a recent interview read: "I have no problem with homosexuality. I have a problem with homosexual acts." Homosexuality is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as "involving sexual activity with a member of one's own sex." Sen. Santorum cannot pick and choose; if he has a problem with such acts, then he is indeed a homophobe. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and its allies do not wish to cast Sen. Santorum as anything that he is not; we merely seek that the truth about him be made known to his Pennsylvania constituents. Reverse discrimination is not alive and well; the LGBTA community is not name calling for the sake of it, trying to silence or repress white male Republicans. Indeed, the very idea of such a group of individuals being repressed all the way into the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court is wholly laughable. Andrew Makin
