File-sharing punishment not fair to past violators

Re: "File-sharing students get warning from J.A.," April 24 article.

I am completely outraged that those students got nothing more than a slap on the wrist for their violations. Last fall, I too was a "file-sharer" that was caught in the dorms.

I had only 30 songs on my computer, yet they said I was still a problem and took my computer privileges away for an entire month. During this time, I not only had to use my roommates' computers as it was during midterms, but I also had to memorize an entire code of Penn State ethics and rules and recite them to someone in the Judicial Affairs office, as well as sign an official warning before I could have my connection back.

If they were trying to crack down on people last fall, then why are they becoming more lenient a year and a half later if it is obviously becoming a bigger problem to them?
