Santorum's comments were not controversial
Reverse discrimination is alive and well. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) is a white male with governmental power. Now his comments have come under fire. This all seems awfully familiar, don't you think, Mr. Lott? Reading those comments attributed to the senator, I really have to wonder what exactly makes them so controversial? I read through those "controversial" comments on a major news Web site. I could not find anything I would characterize as a threat. No insults, either. No name-calling, finger-pointing or mudslinging. The Jerry Springer Show, now that's controversy. But what I read was not controversial at all. It was merely one senator's opinion on equal application of the law and his opinion on what legitimately constitutes civil protection. All of this occurred during a discussion on the topic. Sounds like a setup, Mr. Santorum. I am glad to see that Mr. Santorum stands by his words. There is no reason that he has to apologize or explain himself. But if there were a reason, I am certain that Mr. Santorum would do so. He is highly reputable and it is unfortunate that because a few people hold a different political view than him that they will stoop to name-calling and characterizing him as something he is not.
