The State College Police Department said yesterday it has no new leads in the investigation of the April 13 gang rape of a 19-year-old Penn State student.
The rape occurred between 4 and 4:40 a.m. in a yard on the 200 block of South Garner Street, and police are continuing to search for suspects. The possible suspects are described as three white men between the ages of 20 and 25. One of the men was wearing a blue sweater and another was wearing a white T-shirt, police said. After they raped the victim, they fled in the direction of Beaver Avenue on Garner Street, police said earlier.
Sgt. Dana Leonard said details of the incident are still sketchy, and the victim remembers little about the incident due to severe psychological trauma.
"We don't have any suspects," Leonard said.
The victim was discovered walking in the vicinity of the rape by a passerby, he said. "He came upon her and realized she needed help," Leonard said. "He used her cell phone to get help."
He said the victim was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital, adding there was no outward appearance that the victim was physically beaten.
He said police are looking for anyone who might have been in the vicinity between the hours of 4 and 4:40 a.m. and might have information on the incident.
"We're looking for any help we can get," he said. Anyone with information is asked to call the State College Police Department at 234-7150.
