Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania now accepting registration for camps

The Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania is now accepting registrations for summer art camps for children and teens. Each camp meets from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Open Studio, 824 Pike St., Lemont.

Regular art camps are open to children of all ages, and cover a variety of individual and group art experiences, including painting, clay work, wheel-throwing, paper making, print making, collage and assemblage.

Regular camps are offered the weeks of June 16, June 23, July 21, Aug. 11 and Aug. 25.

A photography camp for children 9 and older will be offered the week of June 23. Participants will learn the principles of the art by making a "pin hole" camera, developing their photos, and assembling them into books. There is a $15 materials fee for participation in the camp activities.

An advanced camp for teenagers is being offered the week of July 28. The course will be led by Amalia Shaltiel, the children/youth program coordinator and an artist in residence at the Pennsylvania Counicl on the Arts. There will be a $10 materials fee for participation in the camp activities.

The basic fee for the camps is $105, and includes all materials (except where noted above) and snacks.

Discounts are available for Art Alliance members, and scholarships are available.

Enrollment is limited to 12 students per camp, so early registration is recommended. To register, or for more information on the camps, call 234-2740, or e-mail info@artallianepa.org.
