NEWS

Saturday's sting operation by Penn State Police Services that netted a suspect lifting a backpack from the Intramural Building was in response to a rash of thefts police said is "more than just typical."

Bellefonte Airport officials addressed the Centre County Airport Authority (CCAA) Thursday about concerns over a grant received by the University Park Airport in February.

Daniel J. Opdenhoff, the State College man accused of murdering his parents last fall, was ordered to stand trial at his preliminary hearing yesterday in Centre County Courthouse, Bellefonte.

Passover, the Jewish holiday that celebrates the Jews' freedom from slavery in Egypt, will have special meaning this year because of the war in Iraq, said Tuvia Abramson, executive director of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life.

Though there is much focus on the war in Iraq, U.S. soldiers, including two Penn State graduates fighting in the war against terrorism, are put into harm's way every day in Afghanistan.

A Penn State student will face a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. today in Centre County Courthouse, Bellefonte, on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking of disposition, theft by receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of liquor or malt or brewed beverages, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.

The weekend of the NFL Draft will be a nerve-wracking one in the apartment former Penn State offensive linemen Tyler Lenda and Eric Rickenbach share.

The life of an undrafted free agent in the NFL is one of constant limbo and uncertainty. There are only 55 spots on an NFL roster, and every year there are seven rounds in the draft for teams to throw more players into the competition for those positions.

Throughout the 2003 season, senior women's gymnast Katie Rowland garnered the spotlight in the all-around competition for the Penn State women's gymnastics team.

With the weather finally acting in its favor, the Penn State men's golf team is looking to successfully return to competition.
