Letter to the Editor
Conservatives run U.S., should be ashamed

I am having a lot of trouble understanding how conservatives are the oppressed ones ("Conservatives are the group in the closet," April 8 column). The day poor, gay, non-Christian women of color run America is the same day I will believe your outrageous claim of being "closeted" by liberals. The day that you cannot marry a person of the opposite sex, the day that you are denied a job for being a white male, the day that you get assaulted for being straight is the day you can tell me that you are oppressed.

The United States is run by conservative, upper-middle class, Christian, white males. These are the people that are, for the majority, in charge of the government, education and jobs. You cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to be oppressed or silenced. The fact you are so ashamed of being conservative has nothing to do with liberals. It has to do with the fact that inside of yourselves, you know what you really stand for: keeping others down so that you can stay on top. And I for one cannot blame you for wanting to hide that.
