Letter to the Editor
Quality of coach choice remains to be seen

There is nothing more I love to do than support Penn State athletics. From the crazy fans in Beaver Stadium to the electricity of Rec Hall, it is a fantastic thing. Unfortunately, one arena left out is the Jordan Center. I enjoy basketball and would like to see a successful basketball team while I am at Penn State. After going through two 7-21 seasons under Dunn, I thought things were about to get better.

Unfortunately, Penn State has decided not to go after a big name coach and bring a fighting chance to Happy Valley. With names like Steve Lavin from UCLA, Fran Dunphy from UPenn, and Steve Wojciechowski from Duke of all places. Penn State should have hired a "big gun" to turn this program around and at least win more than a few Big Ten games. Instead they did the Penn State tradition and hired from within so to speak.

I don't know if Ed DeChellis from East Tennessee State was the right choice; nobody will know for a few years. I will just hope for the best in my remaining two years and wish Coach DeChellis the best of luck.
