Two USG senators file suit about joint session

Two Undergraduate Student Government (USG) town senators filed suit against the body, claiming it improperly conducted a joint session of Congress and that approved legislation should be void.

The USG Senate and Academic Assembly met twice this week to discuss and vote on changes to the USG constitution. These changes include issues on court power and other amendments intended to make meetings run more smoothly. Town Sen. Mike Gallo and South Halls Sen. Michael Jozkowski's claim states that, among other things, USG President Rubina Javeri did not give enough notice before the session started Monday. At a previously scheduled joint session Sunday, not enough members attended to conduct the meeting.

The brief also says the committee that proposed the changes had no authority to create legislation.
