Weather cancels two for club baseball squad

To some, rain can bring flowers and the sight of snow can be beautiful and exciting. The Penn State club baseball team is not included in that group.

After more than a week of spring-like weather, Penn State's boys of summer had their home opener and weekend series against New York University postponed because of rain Saturday and snow yesterday.

"It's tough," manager Phil Pinkasavage said of the postponements. "It means we've already had 16 games cancelled."

The team will return to action next Saturday at NYU for what will be the team's Northeastern Athletic Conference opening series.

The Lions had been scheduled to play Penn State Berks Sunday April 6, however those games are cancelled so that the team can get in the needed conference games against NYU.

The Lions first six games of the season were cancelled because of weather. Last weekend's games were cancelled as well.

The Lions are 4-4 on the season.

"The guys are getting a bit antsy," Pinkasavage said. "Hopefully we'll pick up right where we left off in Florida."
