It's important to know where your news is coming from. FOX News, as the most widely watched news channel in America, has a tremendous sway over public opinion and information dissemination. You've probably heard their mantra: Fair and Balanced.
The chairman of FOX is Roger Ailes. He might have you believe he has a solid journalistic background. In fact, all he really has is a solid Republican background. Ailes was chief strategist for Presidents Nixon, Reagan and Bush, Sr.
His boss, the owner of FOX News, is Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch is one of the most influential and powerful media figures in the world. Every single one of the papers owned by Murdoch News Associates is solidly in favor of war on Iraq. His TV operations have, at various times, been outlawed in China and India, and he was investigated by the Federal Communications Commission for providing misleading documents about the ownership of his U.S. stations.
To say Murdoch might have his own private interests in what is televised is an understatement. To quote Noam Chomsky, "For those who stubbornly seek freedom, there can be no more urgent task than to come to understand the mechanisms and practices of indoctrination. These are easy to perceive in the totalitarian societies, much less so in the system of 'brainwashing under freedom' to which we are subjected and which all too often we see as willing or unwitting instruments." But FOX is Fair and Balanced; so, they'll report. And you can decide.
