Penn State has appointed Vicky Triponey, vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Connecticut, to succeed Bill Asbury as vice president for student affairs.

A native of Clearfield County, Triponey will take over July 1, pending approval by the Penn State Board of Trustees at its meeting on Friday in Hershey.

Asbury plans to retire June 30 after 27 years at Penn State.
