A March 9 fire at Beaver Hill Apartments is being blamed on faulty electricity, Centre Region Fire Marshall Walt Wise said.
Wise said no deliberate action set off the fire in apartment 632 that occurred at about 8:30 p.m. and evacuated the building for a short time. He said no charges will be filed as a result of the fire.
However, State College Police confiscated a small number of suspected marijuana plants from the apartment, and charges may be filed against those involved pending tests on the plants, Sgt. Dana Leonard said.
The residents of the apartment have been displaced as a result of the fire, but three of them have found housing from the university, assistant manager for Housing and Food Services Ryan Morgan said.
Resident Jonathan Hill declined comment when contacted.
