Letter to the Editor
Basketball campaign was a waste of money

Bring the noise? Northeastern, Bucknell, St. Francis, Robert Morris and Buffalo. Never heard of these schools? Me neither, yet they are the only teams Penn State has brought this so-called noise to. I actually walked by the HUB-Robeson Center during the pep rally and the only thing I noticed was two men running around like idiots in the cold, scaring people while they were driving by.

The university has wasted $125,000 on this campaign, and since the rally the team is 0-6 and 0-8 since Jan. 8. And we wonder why our tuition has increased!

Don't get me wrong; I am a big fan and root for Penn State at every home game. I just hate the fact that people are going to yell and scream outside the HUB and ruin one of my Friday afternoons by telling me how to cheer. Don't tell me how to cheer! I am at the games, screaming in the third row telling Jerry Dunn not take out Sharif Chambliss or Brandon Watkins when the team is on a run. The fact is that Penn State is not very good and will not be very good because the talent is not up-to-date with what will work in the Big Ten.

It is very disappointing knowing that Indiana, Illinois and Michigan State will get the needed talent year after year and that Penn State has the resources to get that same talent with the Bryce Jordan Center, a wonderful academic reputation and a 44,000 student population. So, I leave with this: I will bring the noise when Penn State brings the game. Unfortunately, I do not think that will happen.
