The State College Police Department is investigating two suspicious threats found in a State College Area High School South Building bathroom stall Wednesday.
The writings, which were discovered by maintenance staff, threatened there would be a bomb at tonight's Valentine's Day dance and also made threats toward blacks.
State College Police Chief Tom King said there is no reason to believe the threats are credible. King said the threats were vague in nature, mentioning the dance in one and race in the other.
"We think someone just did this for attention," he said. "We want to find who did this and hold them accountable."
King added police do not have any suspects at this point.
Despite the bomb threat, King said officials at the school do not plan to cancel the dance.
Parents have been asked to talk to their children about the incident to help find the person responsible.
A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever made the threats.
Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to contact school officials or police at 234-7150.
