'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days'

Seeing How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was like paying five dollars to watch a bowl of cheese for two hours. Granted, it was an attractive bowl of cheese.

Bored by the tired repertoires and confused with the obnoxious plotting, somehow I left the theatre with a sheepish grin, and that loving feeling.

Andie Anderson, played by Kate Hudson, is a stylish columnist for Composure magazine who has to deceive, obsess and be everything but normal in order to lose a guy in 10 days for a story.

Matthew McConaughey is Benjamin Barry, a debonair advertiser who has to attain the love of a woman in 10 days to win a bet. Obviously these two set their sights on each other -- God forbid any romance occurs in a normal setting.

While Ben orders Andie bouquets of roses, Andie is decorating his apartment with stuffed animals and filling his medicine cabinet with tampons and pink puffy things.

Out of determination for a good story and the extreme desire to win, the duo goes to extreme means to continue this charade. The impeccably attractive couple dines in designer suits and tailored outfits, and bicker in penthouse apartments and at upscale galas. With perfect hair and roots to match, Hudson plays the repulsive girlfriend type with a vigor that almost seems real.

But what will happen when Andie and Ben fall deeply in love with each other under the pretenses of this hoax? As predictable as it is, I will not spoil the surprise. But then again, what would one expect out of a romantic comedy but beautiful people saying dumb things.
