Men should be willing to fight if called in draft
Re: "Draft is discriminatory against men, students," Feb. 4 letter. It sounds like the author is so afraid that a possible draft might be enacted that he suggests that women must also be considered. Why is this? Are you suggesting that a woman take your place to serve in our military? I bet you are also considering to propose that children as well should be registered. As a U.S. Army reservist, who is also a full-time Penn State student, I am insulted to think that one day I may have to give my life for someone who is so afraid to serve his country that he suggest that women be forced to do the same. Don't get me wrong, I don't think a draft would be the best solution. Certain people are meant to do some things and not to do others. You are trying to put more numbers in the hat to decrease the chance that yours won't be picked. If you say you have no problem serving your country, then do it if called. Don't try to tamper your way out of it. Don't worry though, I doubt that you will be inconvenienced any. There are hundreds of thousands of men and women who volunteered to protect this great nation and were not worried about some draft. Nicholas Ciarcia
