Keeping it real

Voices of Venues

Reality TV -- It's probably one of today's guiltiest pleasures. Whether it's been judging American Idol contestants, laughing with The Osbournes, or making fun of the women on Joe Millionaire, we've all watched these shows at one time or another. As more and more reality series hit the airwaves, Venues asked: What's your favorite reality TV show, and why?

"I like Joe Millionaire, based solely on the fact that we get to see their [the female contestants'] reaction on the last episode. Those women are gold diggers."

-- Steve Farole (junior-political science and history)

"The Bachelor. It's just fun seeing all the girls getting all emotional."

-- Jessica Brooks (sophomore-hpa)

"Joe Millionaire. I want to find out what the woman's reaction is."

-- Paul Watsko (freshman-animal bio science)

"Probably Road Rules. Just because me and my friends always get together and watch it. It's fun to make fun of everybody."

-- Meghan Sirocky (senior-telecommunications)

"I don't like reality TV, actually. I think it's kind of stupid."

-- Barbara Pavesi (sophomore-anthropology)

"Man Versus Beast was very original."

-- Gretchen Holtzer (graduate-chemical engineering)

"I really don't watch any of them. I did actually catch a little bit of Joe Millionaire. It's pretty funny."

-- Mike Funk (freshman-architectural engineering)

"I don't like those shows at all. They're not really real."

-- Maria Rogalla (junior-psychology and criminal justice)

"Joe Millionaire. He's the man. I don't know, I'm addicted."

-- Erik Shearer (freshman-architectural engineering)

"Battle of the Sexes. I don't really know why."

-- Allison Reilly (freshman-division of undergraduate studies)

"American Idol. It's funny how they make fun of people.

-- Jeremy Ritter (senior-mathematics)
