Letter to the Editor
Draft is discriminatory against men, students

How ironic is it that liberals are now demanding a reinstatement of the draft. These fans of affirmative action are now going to support a two-fold discriminatory process.

First, women do not register in this draft. If Title IX is to prevent discrimination in sports, surely the draft must conscribe female soldiers. Israeli women serve and die daily to defend their way of life; why shouldn't American women?

In addition, the proposal is to focus specifically on college students. I have no problem serving my country, but to say we will draft the college student who registers to receive financial aid and not the draft dodger who avoids his social responsibility is just ludicrous. To reinstate the draft in its current form would allow hypocrisy to permeate the Democratic party. Distribute draft service equally and then I will proudly support and serve my country if called.
